Peanut Butter

Well I dreamed I made a crazy sandwich Peanut Butter and sour cream Saw it right in my hand which Was grabbing it in the dream I had a knife now spreading on the bread And it made an awful sight Crime against nature some would say Still I had to take a bite Crime against nature some would say Still I had to take a bite When I woke it was still the morning Sour cream was not on my mind Should have taken the dream as a warning I think that it would have been kind Still it just nagged at me and I gave in I just couldn't help myself Grabbing the bread and sour cream Peanut Butter off the shelf Grabbing the bread and sour cream Peanut Butter off the shelf I proceeded to make the sandwich It was messy and dripped from cream It wasn't so much a plan which I had thought as a full-blown scheme I took a bite, it sat there on my tongue Awaiting my review Not too bad and not too good It was something I could chew Not too bad and not too good It was something

Rain Dance

Turn on the news. Precipitation? Weather person says no chance I hang my head in consternation Time to do my own rain dance Turn on the tap and there’s no action Not a drop for me to drink Awaiting liquid benefaction Need to fill my kitchen sink Tried to turn to simple dowsing Couldn’t even make that work No time now for more carousing Body then began to jerk Years of drought, I’m in a panic Time to take some action now Dance around with movements manic Got to make it rain somehow Can you feel it, something's happening? Scent of moisture in the air Can I feel a little dampening? Clouds are gathering way up there Drops are starting, rain is falling Finally we are getting drenched Finally someone heard me calling Thirst is finally getting quenched

Me, Myself and I

Me is a name I call myself Like the Sound of Music song If I wasn’t myself I wouldn’t be me But I certainly could be wrong I look in the mirror ev’ry morn I’m the opposite of what you see When I look at a picture of myself It’s a reflection of the real me He’s just a concept of who I am A me in another place A shadow of my former self Myself with a different face Who is it? I am it! That would be me Myself in a different plane I must exist in a moment of time Don’t think of me as insane Is it me or him? I’m not confused Myself, I would not doubt I face myself and it’s very clear Being me is what I’m all about

Empty Space

Empty space is a place I go when I'm trying to write a song The page is blank, the words exist, but together they don't belong I find a line, I find a rhyme, and in time I have found a tune It may be something at the back of my mind, don't rush it, it's still too soon The words assemble on the line, the tune begins to gel "Will it make sense" I start to think. It's still too early to tell. Distraction here, interruption there, I'm trying to set a pace The only thing that keeps me going? A return to the empty space. I feel as though I can't connect The dots that appear on the page It crashes down, a total wreck The pressure brings only some rage But then in a flash, inspiration succeeds, a melody starts to form The chords reemerge, the words all align, at last the song is born The instruments sing their own harmony, the drums help it march along And now as from nothing, that empty space has just become a song
