3. 1/2 Yes, 1/2 No

by Larry Tagg

The title of the song is taken from a comment by Andy Partridge (XTC) which I read in some fan magazine, standing in a neighborhood 7-Eleven on a lazy day. I already had the music in my head, I just didn't know what it was about. The song was almost written in time for the "YoYo" album.

This is another song left unfinished from the third Bourgeois Tagg album sessions. I had the luxury of taking it home and doing it my way, with inspired assistance from Lyle Workman.

I live where one day is sunshine and the next day is pouring rain
I live on a hill in a valley halfway between pleasure and pain
All these things split right down the middle and
I figure everything else must be made the same way, too--
Split right down the middle
In and out our love seems just about
	1/2 yes and 1/2 no
One part high and one part low
Our life together is a ratio
Of 1/2 yes and 1/2 no
Our love's built right in the middle ground between always and nevermore
My girl and I have a place we meet halfway between love and war
All these things split right down the middle and
I figure everything else must be made to follow that rule--
Split right down the middle
In and out our love seems just about
	1/2 yes and 1/2 no
One part body and one part soul
Our life together is a ratio
Of 1/2 yes and I don't know why
But every time I see my ship coming in
I see it sail away, sail away again
		For every answered prayer
I get another new cross to bear
Larry -- lead vocal, harmony vocals, and bass
Lyle Workman -- guitars
Brent Bourgeois -- keyboards
Michael Urbano -- drums
