Image Tom Burns - 73 Sacramento, CA Thomas Walter Burns succumbed to cancer on Wednesday February 20th, 2013. Tom was born August 3rd, 1939 to Robert & Lucille Burns in Tuscola, Illinois. He enjoyed a classic Midwest upbringing giving him simple yet strong values. His calling card was built on high personal integrity, a steady work ethic, and kindness to others. He married his longtime companion and sweetheart, Dorothy Sarti, and they lived together quietly for the past 27 years. After graduating from The Palmer School of Chiropractics, Tom served in the Army and followed the tradition of his father with a 35 year career as a neighborhood Chiropractor. Tom's interests included politics, history and trains. He gave quietly to many charitable organizations. It was not in him to boast. Humility was his guidepost. Tom may have been the quiet sort yet he could be very witty. His obscure knowledge was often entertaining. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, stepchildren Rick Robinson and Sherry Weseloh, Brother Dale Burns & Sister-in-law Martha of Tuscola as well as many nieces and nephews all over the country. He made friends of all ages, from the young Baristas at Starbucks to longtime patients. A hosted Casual Celebration is set for March 9th (2-5PM) at Mission Oaks Community Center, 4701 Gibbons Drive, Carmichael, CA 95608. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations sent to Sutter Cancer Center. 2800 L Street, Sacramento, CA. 95816.
