Sophie Dado (nee Seman), 83, of Whiting, IN. passed away Monday, March 18, 1996 at home. Survivors include one sister, Irene (Robert) Timm of Chicago and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dado was preceded in death by her husband, Steve.Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. from the Owens Funeral Home, Calumet Ave. & 119th St., Whiting, IN. with 11 a.m Mass at SS. Peter & Paul Church with Father Charles Niblick officiating. Burial at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Dado was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and a long time employee of Whiting News Company.

Miss Helen Dado, 58, of 2750 White Oak Ave., Whiting, died Tuesday in St. Catherine Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Whiting.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ann Balog and Mrs. Michael Smarzik, both of Whiting; and a brother, Joseph Dado of Muskegon Heights, Mich.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the Baran Funeral Home, 1235 119th St., Whiting. The Rev. M. F. Bach will sing the mass at 9:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Hammond.

WIFE CAUSES ARREST OF JOSEPH DADO WHITING, Aug. 19. Joseph Dado, 26, member of a well known Whiting family, was seized by police here yesterday at his home 1202--120th street, on a warrant charging him with non-support of his wife and family. Dado's wife, Anna, filed an affidavit against him, police said, charging him with failing to support her or their two young children. Motorcycle Policeman Harry Parker and Patrolman Joseph Schmidt made the arrest. Police said Dado and his wife, who resides at 2228 Schrage avenue, have been estranged for some time.

Bernicky passes away after sudden illness
April 22, 1990 12:00 amMISHAWAKA -- Funeral services will be held Monday for Alberta Anne Bernicky, a former Whiting resident who died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mishawaka after a sudden illness.
Bernicky, 58, of Granger, moved from Whiting in 1969. She had been a crossing guard for Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. of Mishawaka. She was married May 24, 1951 to Peter Bernicky at Andrews Air Force Base. Survivors include her daughters, Robin Hinkson of Mishawaka, Teri Bernicky of South Bend, and Gayle Bernicky of Granger; sons Eric and Joel Bernicky of Granger; four grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Lowell of Whiting.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday from the St. Pius Catholic Church at Fir Road and Ind. 23 in Granger. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements were handled by Hanley and Sons Funeral Home in South Bend.

Peter Paul Bernicky, 65, residing on Swygart Ave., South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Hospice House, South Bend, after an illness. Peter was retired, and had been employed at Metropolitan Home Plumbing as a warehouse manager and, more recently, had been employed in maintenance at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
He was born on March 22, 1931, in Whiting, Ind., to the late Joseph and Anne (Nanista) Bernicky. Peter lived in the South Bend area since 1969, coming from Whiting.
On May 24, 1951, at the Andrew's Air Force Base, he married Alberta Anne Dado, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1990.
He is survived by three daughters, Robin Hinkson and Teri Bernicky, both of Mishawaka, Ind., and Gayle Turk of South Bend; two sons, Eric Bernicky of Mishawaka, and Joel Bernicky of South Bend; six grandchildren, Kerry Snyder of North Carolina, Neil Snyder, Rhianna Bernicky, Haley Turk and Riley Turk, all of South Bend, and Erin Snyder of Mishawaka; three sisters, Dorothy Hollon, Irene Hylek and Anne Lozer, all of Old Town, Fla.; and four brothers, James Bernicky of South Bend, Paul Bernicky of Waukesha, Wis., Mickey Bernicky of Griffith, Ind., and John Bernicky of Simi, Calif.
Peter was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and attended Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 W. Calvert, South Bend. Military gravesite services will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
The family wishes that memorial contributions in Peter's memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
