hasickubin 4 years agoCan someone help me find my family? My name is Tomas Dado , I am an exchange student from Slovakia. I am in Kansas now. My dad, couple weeks ago told me, that his grandfother has got sister. Her name was Maria Dadova and she moved to Whiting Indian aroud 1930 and she married Frank Puplava. They had 12 childrens. Me and my host uncle found Betty and she is wife of one of the childrens of Maria and Frank.

EDWARD M. PUPLAVA "ED" WHITING, IN
Edward "Ed" M. Puplava, age 79, of Whiting, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011. Beloved son of late Frank and late Mary Puplava nee Dado. Loving brother of late Josephine, late Irene (late Joseph) Gulasy, late Tina, late William, late George, late Frank, late Anthony (late Albina), late Richard, late Mike (Ann), late Tom (late Lottie), and late Charles. Proud uncle of many nieces and nephews and greatnieces and great nephews; and great-great nieces and great- great nephews. Ed was a lifelong member of the IC Church and of Whiting. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing, and carpentry. He survived the Battle of Pork Chop Hill during the Korean War. Ed was a very loving uncle and will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM from OWENS- RUZICH FUNERAL HOME, 816 - 119th St., corner of (Rt. 41) Calumet Ave. at 119th St., Whiting to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Rev. Anthony J. Puplava, 83, late of Whiting, passed away Sunday, June 2, 1996 at St. Catherine Hospital. Mr. Puplava is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Joseph) Hanusin of Highland, IN. and Joan Puplava of Whiting, IN.; four brothers, William Puplava, Ed Puplava, Charles Puplava and Tom (Lottie) Puplava and one sister, Justine Puplava, all of Whiting; two granddaughters, Catherine (Michael) Mikolsi of Wixsom, MI. and Michelle Jacusis of Whiting; great grandfather of Andrea and Paul Ellis of Highland, IN.; uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Puplava was preceded in death by his wife, Albine (nee Labotka); four brothers, Frank, Michael, George and Richard Puplava; two sisters, Josephine Puplava and Irene Gallasi and one granddaughter, Margie Hanusin.
Mr. Puplava wa a retired electrician at Amoco Oil, Whiting. Charles A. Puplava, 73, of Whiting passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000 at Danville V.A. Hospital. Survivors include three brothers, Thomas (Lottie) Puplava of Whiting and William and Edward Puplava, also of Whiting; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Ann of Chicago. Mr. Puplava was preceded in death by his father Frank and mother Mary and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2000, 9:30 a.m. from the Owens Funeral Home, Calumet Ave. and 119th St., Whiting with 10 a.m. Mass at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Anthony Ficko officiating. Burial, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mr. Puplava was a Veteran of World War II; was a retiree of Amoco Oil Company having served for 42 years; a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol; a lifelong resident of Whiting.

Richard P. Puplava Services for Richard P. Puplava 28, of 1916 Front St., Whiting found dead in his car Friday (January 17, 1958), will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday from Kosior Chapel, 2031 Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, and at 9 a.m. from Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. John J. Lach will officiate at the final rites, and burial will be in Calumet Park cemetery at Crown Point Mr. Puplava, a technician at the Standard Oil Co. laboratory, was found in his car at 115th St. and State Line Ave., Hammond. He apparently had been dead about three hours when found by a passerby. A shotgun was found by his side, authorities said. Surviving are his parents, Mr, and Mrs. Frank Puplava Sr.; eight brothers, Frank Jr., Anthony, George, Thomas, William, Charles and Edward, all of Whiting, and Michael of Chicago; and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Gulosy and Justine Puplava, both of Whiting. A Korean War veteran, he was a member of Whiting Lodge 111 of the Slovak Catholic Sokol.

Thomas C. Puplava Whiting Thomas C. Puplava, 81, of Whiting, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2004. He ws preceded in death by his parents, Frank, Sr. and Mary (Dado) Puplava and nine othr siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lottie (nee Teborski); two daughters, Barbara (James) Herrick of Scabrook, TX and Frances (James) Russell of Valparaiso; four grandchildren, Jim (Monica) Herrick, Mary (Alan) Robertson, Justin Russell and Matthew Russell; one great-grandchild Ryan Robertson; two brothers, William and Edward Puplava, both of Whiting; and many nieces and nephews. A native and lifelong resident of the Whiting area, Mr. Puplava proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army's 413th Infantry, 104th (Timberwolf) Division during WWII. He was a Whiting High School graduate, a member of Immaculate Conception Church, a retired welder from Amoco with 35 years of service and a member of the VFW. Lottie M. Puplava (Teborski) Valparaiso/East Chicago/Whiting/Hammond Lottie M. (Teborski) Puplava, 77, of Whiting, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2004. She was a resident of Whispering Pines Health Care Facility, Valparaiso, at the time of her passing. Lottie was preceded in death by her spouse, Thomas C. Puplava, parents Joseph and Stella Teborski and six other siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (James) Herrick of Seabrook, TX and Frances (James) Russell of Valparaiso; four grandchildren, Jim (Monica) Herrick, Mary (Alan) Robertson, Justin (Jill) Russell and Matthew Russell; one great grandson, Ryan Robertson; and many nieces and nephews. A native of East Chicago, Lottie was a resident of the Whiting/Hammond area for 56 years. She was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, actively particpated as a member of St. Ann Sodality, and sang with the church choir. She retired from GATX Corp. Plant #1 in East Chicago, where she was employed as a switchboard operator and receptionist. Following cremation at Angelcrest Crematory, at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, Lottie will be laid to rest at Angelcrest Cemetery in Valparaiso.
