Question: Origin of Lingle? There were several Lingle families in Paoli in the early 1900s. One, Samuel L. Lingle, was a physician. Was the name Lingle used to honor him?

Patricia Mills (Mamaw Pat), age 95, went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 31st, 2023. She was born April 14th, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN to Ira and Nola Strockbine. She was known by several names; Patricia, Pat, Momma, and Mamaw. Each name she carried signified who she was to all of us. She was a true friend, a legendary grandmother and great grandmother, and a heroic mom. In the ninety-five years that she walked this earth, Mamaw experienced great love and joy and also unimaginable loss and hardship. She was the strongest woman perhaps this world has ever known. Through it all, Mamaw Pat loved the Lord. In her last days on this earth she spoke about meeting Jesus. She was ready. She had run her race; and she ran it well! We will miss the way she made us laugh without really even trying, and we will miss her profound words of wisdom and her prayers. We will forever miss her bright blue eyes, her tender hugs and her warm apple pies. Mamaw dedicated her life to loving her family, and her love will live in our hearts until we are reunited once again in Heaven.

Mamaw Pat is preceded in death by her husbands (Wayne Warnholz, Charles Jenkins, Al Freeman, and Cletus Mills), her parents (Ira and Nola Strockbine), her siblings (Bill, Bud, Dottie, and Carolyn), her children (John Warnholz, Debbie Bretzinger, and Sandy Warnholz), her step children (Ronnie and Kelly Jenkins) and her grandchildren (Shannon Bretzinger and Tiffani Warnholz).

Mamaw Pat is survived by Sharon and Matthew Perry (daughter and son-in-law) and David Bretzinger (son-in-law), Charles Jenkins, Cindy Jenkins, and Susie Brooks (step children), grandchildren and spouses (Tori and Hunter Martinez, Moriah and Steven Schowengerdt, Josiah and Sara Perry, Amy and Jim Duncan, David Wayne and Dianne Bretzinger, Brandin and Cassie Bretzinger, and Shawn Bretzinger). Her eleven great grandchildren are Cameron Bretzinger; Andrew, Chloe and Sophie Duncan; Eila, Blythe, Luella, and Florence Showengerdt; Ezra Martinez; Braxton Perry; and Alivia Bretzinger. She has two surviving siblings (Ann Smith and Marilyn Donovan).

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. (AP) _ Jack Rodgers, veteran publisher of the Daily Republican Register, died Wednesday after collapsing at the newspaper office. He was 60.

The cause of death was not immediately released.

During his 43 years at the newspaper, Rodgers climbed the ranks from newsboy to publisher.

He began his career at the newspaper in 1955. He served as the newspaper's Linotype operator and shop foreman before his appointment as publisher in 1979.

Rodgers is survived by his wife, Linda, a 9-year-old daughter, Sarah, and three grown children, Brett, Pebbles and Teri.

Married John P. Barker, Jr. May 16, 1983, Divorced October, 2012.

According to Newspapers.com reference (Daily Republican-Register) Peble married someone with last name of Hayden in 1978.

    Faye/Elizabeth Pittman

An "Elizabeth Bennett" was listed on Damon's death certificate as his wife.

    Elizabeth Faye Tate Pittman Bennett

According to this resource, Descendants of Nicholas Vieillar, she was previously married to Kenneth Raymond Pittman. According to earlier research by Cece's sister, LaRue Fisher, she had two sons, Danny A. Pittman, b. 13 Dec 1955, and Douglas R. Pittman, b. 3 Sep 1957.

Interestingly, although Damon and Elizabeth weren't directly related, it seems that he and her former husband's sons (it's not clear if they were her sons) may have been.

Comparing Cece's line and the (step?) sons of Elizabeth Faye Tate Pittman Bennett, we have:

Danny A. & Douglas R. Pittman -> Kenneth Raymond Pittman (1)-> Albert H. Pittman (2)-> Daniel R. Pittman (3)-> Harrison Pittman (4)-> George Pittman (5)-> James Pittman and Rachel McGrew

Cecelia Bennett Linder -> Damon Bennett (1)-> Samuel Bennett (2)-> William H. Bennett (3)-> Harrison Bennett (4)-> William M. & Rebecca Pittman Bennett (5)-> James Pittman and Rachel McGrew

So, if the above relationships are accurate, Cece and Danny A. & Douglas R. Pittman are 5th cousins.
