Sharon Rosalee Newman

April 23, 1939 - May 2, 2017

Sharon Rosalee (Grider) Newman, 78, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home. She was born April 23, 1939 to the late Wayne Grider and Eva Grace (Smith) Cook.

She worked for many years in the dietary department of Welborn Hospital and retired from the Good Samaritan Home. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, fishing, crafts, bird watching, mushroom hunting, being outdoors and family get togethers.

Sharon is survived by her children, Gerald Dean Lashbrook (Sheila) of Washington, IN, James David Lashbrook of North Webster, IN, Amber Maguire of Athens, AL, Joseph E. Newman (Wendee) of Houston, TX, and Amy Newman of Evansville; grandchildren, Hannah, Abigail, Elijah, Emma, Eliza, Kaylee, Chelsea, Audrey, and James David Lashbrook, Courtney Litka, Brittani Dotson, Whitney Parker, Kelsee and Andrew Newman, and Kiersten Buckner; great-grandchildren, Maddox Lashbrook, Matthew Buckner, Maliya and Maizee Newman, and Paisley Dotson; siblings, Mark Edmond Cook and Joseph William Cook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Lashbrook, second husband, Charles Newman; son, Harold Dale Lashbrook; her step-father, siblings, Albert Cook, Hope Harkness, Joy Roberts, James Albert Cook, John Dale Cook. Visitation will be 4:00 -8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home with Reverend David Mills officiating. Memorial contributions may be made the Deaconess Hospice, 610 Walnut St., Evansville, IN 47713.

The family would like to thank the staff of Deaconess Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during her final days.

Max Lewis Elliott

Max L. Elliott, 76, of Xenia passed away Tuesday November 26, 2013 at his residence. Max was born December 30, 1936 in Paoli, Indiana the son of the late Olbert and Josie (Reister) Elliott. Along with his parents Max is preceded in death by his sisters: Majel Easterday, Margaret Comingore, and Barbara Elliott; brothers: Buck Elliott, Gilbert Elliott, and John Elliott. Max is survived by his wife: Patty Elliott; children: Mary Beth Walter (Christopher), Tina Pindell (Roger), Josie Clark, and Chriss Hexter (Eric); step-children: David Coler (Lizbeth), Susan Spears, and Tom Collins (Wendy); brothers: Vance Elliott and Bob Elliott. Max is also survived by his grandchildren: Hannah Purdin (John), Jacob Siemer, Leah McCullough, Jordan McCullough, Alyssa Walter, Shannon Walter, Wade Clark, Dillon Clark, Emerson Hexter, Elliott Hexter, Everlee Hexter, Stewart Spears, Ryan Spears, Tate Coler, Maya Coler, and Charlie Collins; and two great grandchildren: Sophia Purdin and Obediah Artis. Max in his youth was a member of the FFA. Max was retired from the Greene Metropolitan Housing Authority and a member of the Arrowbrook Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday November 30, 2013 at the Arrowbrook Baptist Church 1124 Upper Bellbrook Rd. Xenia, Ohio 45385. Robert Elliott

Robert Eugene Elliott, age 93 of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born on Friday, December 30th, 1927 to Olbert C. & Josie F. Elliott at their home in Orange County, Indiana.

Robert, who they called Bob, along with his six brothers and three sisters spent their entire childhood years growing up in the house on a farm where they were born.

In January of 1945, while attending Indiana University, Bob was called upon to defend his country in World War II. During his four years in the military, he served as a flight engineer in both the Army Air Force and the US Air Force.

On August 22nd, 1959, Bob married June Cheek and made their home in Greene County for nearly 62 years. They have three married daughters, Penny Buckhalter (Jay), Sheila Stewart (Ray) and Sherri Jackson (Marvin) and one step daughter, Donna Elliott. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christin Schlosser, Sarah Jenkins, JP Barger, Kaylie Barger, Rachel Abel, Amanda Jackson, and Catherine Jackson, Garrett Elliott and Steven Elliott as well as five great grandchildren, Bella and Blake Barger and Matthew, Nathan and Hannah Jenkins. He has one surviving brother, Vance Elliott of Orleans, IN.

Bob worked several years with US Steel and then ended up in Greene County where he owned and operated multiple businesses in the automobile service industry. While managing some of these businesses, he also ran for Greene County Treasurer and served in that capacity for 18 years. During his role as Treasurer, he and a friend started another local business.

Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He kept busy around the house and in community where he was a school board member, served on various boards and attended the Waynesburg Bible Chapel.

Friends will be received 6 pm to 8 pm, Saturday and 2 pm to 4 pm and 6pm to 8 pm Sunday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Monday, August 2, 2021 in Waynesburg Bible Chapel 800 E. Greene St., Waynesburg with Pastor Jay Buckhalter and Pastor Larry Douglas officiating. Phillip Easterday Sr., 100, of Orleans, Indiana, passed away Thursday December 12, 2019 at his residence.

He was born October 18, 1919 in Pumpkin Center, IN to Guy Ellsworth and Mary Grace Phillips Easterday. He married Majel Kathleene Elliott on October 12, 1940 and she precedes him in death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and daughter-in-law Glenda Easterday.

Phillip was a lifelong farmer and caretaker of the land.

Survivors include 3-Sons; Phillip Jr & Janis Easterday of Orleans, IN, Danny & Lisa Easterday of Orleans, IN, Thomas & Pam Easterday of Paoli, IN, 3-Daughters; Becky Carol Owen of Paoli, IN, Sheila & Steve Condra of Washington, IN, Joyce Ann & Kevin Hawkins of Mitchell, IN, and 16-Grandchildren, 26 Great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Sunday December 15, 2019 at the Dillman-Scott Funeral Home located at 226 W Campbell St, Paoli IN 47454. Visitation to be held Saturday December 14, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. and from 9 AM till time of service on Sunday. Interment will be at the Syria Christian Church Cemetery located at 2444 N Co Rd 300 E Orleans, IN 47452. Pastor Jimmie Johnson will be officiating.

He was a member & former deacon of Syria Christian Church of Orleans.

Majel was a resident of Orleans, Indiana.

Margaret Elliott Comingore

Margaret E. Comingore, 83, of Valdosta, Ga., formerly of Madison, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

She was born March 31, 1925, in Orange County, the daughter of Olbert and Josie Reister Elliott. She worked at the Department of Agriculture and was a member of Charity Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Jerry Comingore of Indianapolis; one daughter, Janet Comingore of Valdosta, Ga.; three brothers, Robert Elliott of Waynesburg, Pa., Max Elliott of Xenia, Ohio, and Vance Elliott of Orleans; one sister, Majel Easterday of Orleans; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh S. Comingore, who died May 20, 2002.

The funeral was in the chapel at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Hugh Comingore

VALDOSTA -- Hugh S. Comingore, 79, of Valdosta, passed away Monday morning, May 20, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Orange County, Ind., and had lived in Valdosta for the past 29 years. He was retired from the Maintenance Department at South Georgia Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and also helped build four churches with the Christian Service Core. Survivors include his wife, Margaret E. Comingore of Valdosta; one daughter, Janet Comingore of Valdosta; one son, Jerry Comingore of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Eleanor Henninger of Madison, Ind.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison, Ind., Saturday, May 25, 2002.
