PAOLI - Vance C. Payton, 83, of Paoli died at 10 a.m. Sunday at Paoli Health & Living Community in Paoli.

He was retired from Indiana Handle Co. of Paoli, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Danny and Carlo Payton, both of Paoli; three daughters, Judy Payton, Louise Scott and Ruth Busick, all of Paoli; one brother, Alvia W. Payton of Paoli; one sister, Mary Anna Robinson of Paoli; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McAdams Mortuary of Paoli. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hardinsburg. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Thomas L. Scott

Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Burkesville, Ky., he was the son of the late George and Laura Jennings Scott.

He was a retired employee of Paoli Inc. and a member of the Christian faith.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Scott; four sisters, Ruby Pierce, Emery Ellen Young, Mae Harvey and Josie McCarol; and two brothers, Calvin and Howard Scott.

Survivors include his wife, the former Louise Payton; five daughters, Amy Gowan of Tell City, Lisa Kameda, Laura Lee Harkness and Susie Talley, all of Paoli, and Alice Walker of Marengo; a son, Thomas Edward Scott of Paoli; two brothers, Hubert Scott of Louisville and Sellie Scott of Sellersburg; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli.

Funeral: Wednesday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hardinsburg.

Officiant: Brother George Key.

Funeral services for Sellie J. Scott, 77, of Pekin, formerly of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. He died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Salem Crossings Nursing Home in Salem.

He worked for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company and was a member of the Local 681 Machinist Union located in Louisville.

Surviving include a son, David A. Scott and his wife, Peggy, of, Pekin; a brother, Scott Hubert Scott, of Louisville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Robert "Bob" Gowan formerly of Waverly, NY

Robert "Bob" Gowan, 65, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Waverly, NY on May 10, 1944. He was an Army veteran serving in Vietnam and retired from the military after 20 years. He was united in marriage on October 4, 1986 to Brenda Whalen. He worked as Director of Human Resources at Branchville Correctional Facility retiring after 20 years. Bob was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post 2939. He was an avid sports fan, particularly baseball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Whalen Gowan, of Tell City; sons, Ronnie and his wife, Amy and Brad Gowan, all of Tell City; daughter, Sandy Hobson of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Tosha and Lindsey Gowan, Steven and Andrew Hobson; 3 step grandchildren, Derek, Travis and Evan Dalton; 5 step great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Gowan of Barton, NY, Dick Gowan of Glen Allen, VA and Jack Gowan of Smithboro, NY; sister, Beatrice Horton of Apalachin, NY. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alberta (Williams) Gowan; brothers, Don and Jim Gowan; nephew, Donnie Gowan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. CST on Thursday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or the Ronald McDonald House.
