Would like to find information on the family of Edward BASS of Fluvanna County. He was listed there in the 1820 Census and still there in 1827 when his daughter was married. He was possibly from Powhatan or Chesterfield Counties. Known children were:

1. Susan BASS, b. c1807 m(1) 1827 Hezekiah MANLEY, m(2) 1836 William CURRIER
2. Sarah BASS, b. c1812 m. 1837 Thomas DAWSON
possibly also a son, Archibald BASS?

Does anyone have indexes to the 1820, 1830 or 1840 census which might include Edward BASS?? Are there lists similar to this for Powhatan or Chesterfield counties?

Does anyone have access to probate indexes for Fluvanna Co. which might include Edward BASS??

Marriage records of Powhatan County include the following, which may possibly be the marriage of the Edward I am interested in:

Edward BASS to Elizabeth JEFFERIES, 2 March 1805
Edward BASS to Rebecca MOSELEY, 10 March 1807

Any help or research advice greatly appreciated.

Is anyone researching the BASS surname in or around Fluvanna County?

Susan BASS, born c1807 married in Fluvanna Co in 1827 to Hezekiah MANLEY (s/o Micajah & Sarah SEAY MANLEY). He was deceased by 1834. Susan was dau. of Edward BASS of this county. Consent of Edward BASS was witnesses by Archibald BASS (a brother of Susan?).

Susan (Bass) MANLEY married (2) in 1836 at Fluvanna Co to William CURRIER (bondsman was Thomas DAWSON). Where did they go?

Sarah "Sally" BASS, born 1817 married in 1837 in Fluvanna Co to Thomas DAWSON. Suspect she was sister of Susan BASS. Thomas & Sarah BASS moved to Kentucky by 1850 and Washington Co, Indiana by 1870. She died in Washington Co in 1883.

There were Edward BASS families in Chesterfield Co VA. Was Edward (father of Susan) part of the Chesterfield County Bass families?

Any help or research leads appreciated. I suspect that Susan BASS and Hezekiah MANLEY were the parents of Caroline MANLEY (w/o Shadrach BISHOP) who when she married in 1848 said she was an orphan.

Could Caroline MANLEY call herself an orphan if her mother was still alive but living out of state? Or would both parents have to been deceased by 1848? If the latter is correct, was their a William CURRIER still in Fluvanna by 1850 with a wife other than Susan??
