I'm looking for information about a Thomas Dawson and his wife Sarah. They are found in the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Washington County. Their youngest daughter Mary Frances (Fannie) married Stephen Riester.

I found Thomas and his family in the 1850 Barren County KY census and in the 1860 Metcalf County KY census. Thomas, Sarah, and most of their children were born in Virginia. Does anyone know what might have brought the family to Indiana? Perhaps the war prompted the move. I'd be grateful for any additional information about this family and am willing to share what I have.

I'm looking for more information about about Sarah (Sally) Bass who married Thomas Dawson in Virginia in 1837. Here's everything I know about this couple.

Thomas Dawson married Sarah Bass 8/21/1837 in Fluvanna County VA.

The 1840 census of Brooke County VA shows an entry for Thomas Dawson: 10001 10011. I think this might be Thomas and Sarah, but have no other evidence.

They appear in the 1850 Barren County KY census with children Julia A., Benjamin F., Mildred S., and James C.

They appear in the 1860 Metcalf County KY census with children Julia Ann, Susan M., James C., Martha J., and Sarah T.

They appear in the 1870 and 1880 censuses of Washington County IN.

Sarah died 10/31/1883 and is buried in the Mount Carmel Cemetery in Washington County IN. I haven't found any burial information for Thomas.

Thomas' profession is always listed as blacksmith. I'd love to correspond with anyone with more information about this family. I'd love to know what motivated the moves they made.
